I believe the leadership theory that most closely matches me is the participative theory. I like to take into account what everybody has to say before I make a decision one way or the other. I have been accused of being slow in my decision making process, only because I am weighing all of the information and figuring out which decision will impact/help the largest amount of people involved.

Power Dynamic

The power dynamic at my school is a very simple one, we have a dictator type superintendent who rules with fear and intimidation. He is a super micromanager and keeps the principals on an extremely tight leash. This in turn makes the principals keep the teachers on a very tight leash. To be able to influence change at my school would be very difficult since most teachers are scared to death of the superintendent, however he is retiring in December and then I personally believe that there will be complete and utter chaos as the principals and other leaders scramble until a new leader emerges.

I am learning more about myself as a leader by paying attention to the things I do as a leader in the classroom and thinking about how I would apply them to the teacher leadership role.

--> I hope to get from this course a better understanding of what my personal type of leadership style is. I will help me to grow my leadership skills obviously if I know better what my style is. I think I know have some ideas of the type of leader I could be if I develop the skills necessary to become a good leader.
