I believe the leadership theory that most closely matches me is the participative theory. I like to take into account what everybody has to say before I make a decision one way or the other. I have been accused of being slow in my decision making process, only because I am weighing all of the information and figuring out which decision will impact/help the largest amount of people involved.
I think my style is also participative. I like to listen to input from those I am working with and look at it from all different perspectives. But, as you said, it is a time consuming process. Regardless of your preference, as a leader we will have to make some decisions ourselves.
ReplyDeleteMy style also is participative. I like listening to others input so that I can think more openly. I have found that many times when I listen to others input it makes me think more about the task. It is always better to hear many different ways of looking at something before a final decision is made.
